Getting Close to Another Playtest Build


Hey folks,

I've been busy working on this game for the past two months responding to your feedback. I'll do my best to summarize all of what has changed with the game since the last iteration.

1.) You are no longer confined to the deck. Some decks have a stairway that lets you walk off the deck. Because decks have a nice varnished surface, you move faster on the deck and slower everywhere else. At some point, I want there to be special deck stains you can get that improve movement speed, along with perks.

2.) You harvest resources by hand like in Minecraft. There is no more concept of "labor" and turns. You walk up to trees and you chop them to get the wood. You use the wood to build the deck.

3.) You don't select pieces of the deck to build. Deck pieces are out there, in the world, and you click on them to build them. You can only build something if you are close enough to it to build.

4.) No more turns. The game is real-time. You get a brief period rest to build, and then the first attack wave starts. You get a warning before the Karens show up, so you better get back to the deck.

5.) There is no more malding. Death happens when the mob gets you. If you get kicked off the deck, you have to contend with an angry mob that wants to kill you. They're faster because they're motivated, and you are slower because you are not on the deck. Good luck.
